Darwin artists do not shy away from criticizing the remarkably silly and high-handed actions of their politicians, bureaucrats and spin-doctors. The LittlePrick exhibitions have been the most vocal and effective criticism of Australian and NT government, and much funnier than mainstream media. Who can forget the ALP’s Banned Thinkers Register, Clive Palmer: a genuine lump of coal, the Dredging of Darwin, the Little Children are Scary report, a sinkhole that swallows CLP politicians, If they call it the tourist season, why can’t we shoot them, the “dumb and dumber” park bench occupied by rotating Chief Ministers and the expensive, confusing attempt to rebrand the Territory with the slogan Boundless possible.
It’s 2025 and nothing much has changed, so LittlePricks are back to ask the hard question: When we say NO, why do you keep saying YES? Locals want a slow life and no crowds, the government says we need more people. The locals say we like our water clean and full of fish, the government says mine us until we bleed.
Set your Territory hearts on fire with BOOM TOWN, A LittlePrick Exhibition, a retrospective of past and present LittlePicks that tell the story of unbridled passion between the NT government and big gas giants.
