YOU ARE HERE is an exhibition of 20 images and 4 large-scale timelines (a total of 25 metres long and 20,000 words). With truth-telling at its core, YOU ARE HERE examines Australia’s frontier wars and the massacre of Indigenous peoples alongside the nation’s history of coal extraction and infrastructure development by European settlers, mining companies and Australian governments. It is an unflinching examination of how we got to where we are now. The exhibition was curated by Joanna Barrkman, Curator of Charles Darwin University Art Collection and exhibited at Charles Darwin University Art Gallery, providing the venue and backdrop for CDU’s public program on truth-telling.
